Index taking unusually long

Symptom
  • Collection index is taking longer than normal to complete

Additional information

Certain factors can trigger a Full Rebuild index on a collection that will take longer to complete.

  • Field Additions/deletions
  • Search field 'yes/no' changes
  • Controlled vocabulary add/disable

If you need assistance you can reach out to OCLC Support to request a log of the index or have OCLC check on its status to see if that has been triggered.

NOTE: If you have a very large collection of size and items. This full index could potentially take a few hours. Best practice would be to make all your changes at once and kick off the index at the end of the day or a time that is convenient for your organization.
