How do I set up automatic logon for FirstSearch?

Applies to
  • FirstSearch
Answer
  • IP address recognition. OCLC Internet Protocol (IP) address recognition is easy to set up and maintain. You specify which IP addresses may use your FirstSearch accounts. You add links to FirstSearch on your Web pages. The links work only for users with an IP address that you specified. Complete instructions are available at IP Address Recognition.
  • WebScript automatic logon scripting. Automatic logon scripting requires special knowledge and facilities but provides additional control of automatic logon needed by some libraries. To use automatic logon scripting, your system administrator installs and uses the OCLC WebScript CGI (Common Gateway Interface) application--copyrighted freeware, distributed free of charge. Complete instructions are available at Automatic Logon Scripting for FirstSearch.
